Bodies of water frequently relate in some fashion to various aspects of Holy Spirit or things of the Spirit. Based upon Ephesians 5:26 bodies of water can also represent the Word of God. In the case of an ocean or sea there can also be a colloquial meaning based upon the concept of the "Sea of Humanity". In such a case the ocean would represent masses of people.
