Part of my dream last night
I was visiting a new work location to determine what I might need to get settled in. I had brought boxes with me. After sorting through my things, I left three of the boxes on a coffee table in a lobby area. They were empty except for some pens and pencils which I was planning to keep and use.
I left the boxes on the table as I went into another area to explore. In the meantime, a couple also came by. They were already working on a project which seemed to involve all of their attention. Suddenly, I realized that they had actually cleaned out the area as part of their set-up. I discovered that my boxes with the pens and pencils were gone. I was very sad about this.
When I asked the couple if they had unpacked these boxes and where my things might be, they seemed a little flustered. They had worked so quickly that they didn’t remember where they put my pens and pencils. I was welcome to look for them but that was all the help they could offer at that moment. I understood that they needed to stay focused on their work. At the same time, I was a little disappointed that they didn’t pause to either ask about the owner of the boxes or set them aside instead.
The lobby area wasn’t brightly lit. I remember the beautiful brick walls and quaint yet modern décor. I didn’t know who this couple was but they were younger, maybe in their early 30’s? and they were also dressed in winter gear.
